Why is what we call effective not actually effective at all?
Why are positive Black Swans more unpredictable than negative ones?
Who is the greatest expert on anti-fragility?
In The Black Swan, Taleb demonstrates how unlikely and unpredictable events are
marked almost every aspect of the modern world.
In Anti-Fragility, it shows that uncertainty is actually necessary.
The term anti-fragility is a neologism of Nassim Nicholas Taleb as opposed to fragility
of events in life and in the economy. Anti-fragility, however, goes beyond the concept
for resilience – means that something is so stable that it can not only withstand shock, but also to
benefits from its appearance. For Taleb, the words that exist so far, as opposed to uncertainty,
such as resilience and endurance, are not strong and accurate enough to represent the state of affairs,
which he speaks of in his new book. There are no names for many concepts, we cannot capture them linguistically or cover them with the limited human ideas we have. And since events cannot be determined solely and
only as the two opposing points of one opposition, Nasim Taleb proposes the Triad of fragility – resilience – anti-fragility.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb is a Lebanese-American philosopher, trader,
essayist and risk analysis specialist. Master of Business Administration
from Wharton Business School and a doctorate from the University of Paris.
Author of some of the most significant studies of risk and rare and unpredictable events with great impact – “Outwitted by chance”, “Black Swan” and “Anti-fragility”.
