“Outwitted by chance” NN Taleb

associated with underestimating the impact of random events in our lives.
This book is populated with many characters, some of whom have grasped in their own way
own way the significance of chance: baseball legend Yogi Bera;
the philosopher Carl Popper; the greatest sage of antiquity Solon;
the modern financier George Soros; and the Greek hero Odysseus.
We will also meet the fictional Nero, who seems to understand the role
of chance, but falls victim to his own foolish superstition.
And yet the most recognizable is the image of the unnamed lucky man,
which somehow always gets to the right place at the right time
and embodies the survival of the most unfit. Such people
attract loyal followers who believe in the ideas and
the methods of his guru. But no one is able to repeat
achieved by chance. Are we capable?
to distinguish a lucky swindler from a true visionary?
Should we always look for non-existent messages in random events?
It may not be possible to protect ourselves from the whims of Fortune, but after reading “Outwitted by Chance”, we will at least be a little more prepared.
